Research Interest: 

We are currently focusing on the design and synthesis of new biomimetic and intelligent polymers and study on their applications, mainly including: 

(1) development of new controlled/“living” radical precipitation polymerization methods and their application in the design of well-defined multifunctional polymer micro- or nanoparticles; 

(2) design and synthesis of well-defined complex biological sample-compatible molecularly imprinted polymers and study on their applications in the chemosensing and biomedical fields; 

(3) synthesis of new photoresponsive liquid crystalline polymers and study on their applications in photoactuating and other areas.

1999.06-2006.08: Post-doc., Faculty of Chemical Engineering, Twente University (The Netherlands), Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Eindhoven University of Technology (The Netherlands), and Chemical Center, Lund University (Sweden).

2006.08-present: Professor, College of Chemistry, Nankai University.

Scientific Achievements & Selected Publications

Since 2006, I have presided over 7 research projects from National Natural Science Foundation of China, 3 research projects from Ministry of Education, 3 research projects from Tianjin city, and 3 industry projects.

  So far, I have published more than 80 scientific papers as the first author or corresponding author in the journals such as J. Am. Chem. Soc., Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., Adv. Mater., Macromolecules, ACS Macro Lett., Biomacromolecules, Chem. Commun., Biosens. Bioelectron., ACS Appl. Mater. Interfaces, Chinese J. Polym Sci., etc. In addition, I have also published 4 invited book chapters and a textbook “Polymer Physics” (Science Press, Beijing, as the second author). Furthermore, 11 invention patents (including one USA invention patent) have also been granted. 

  In the present, I have been a board member of the Society for Molecular Imprinting since 2014, the editorial advisory board member of European Polymer Journal since 2017, and the editorial advisory board member of Molecules since 2020.
