On August 30th, Academician Jiang Hualiang, director of the Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica, Chinese Academy of Sciences, visited Centurial Nankai Grand Forum, brought a wonderful report for Nankai teachers and students with the title of Scientific Research Culture and Scientific Research Life, in Shi Xianlou, Balitai Campus.     Academician Jiang Hualiang is the director of the Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He graduated from the Department of Chemistry of Nanjing University in 1987 with a bachelor's degree in organic chemistry. In 1992, he obtained a master's degree in physical chemistry from the Department of Chemistry of East China Normal University. In 1995, he was admitted to the Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica, Chinese Academy of Sciences and received a PhD in pharmaceutical chemistry. He has long been committed to basic research in pharmaceutical science and discovery of new drugs. Through the intersection of biology, chemistry, mathematical science and computational information science, he focuses on new strategies and methods for original drug research, the discovery and optimization of lead compounds, and Regulatory mechanism of drug targets, etc. He has won many awards such as the Second Prize of National Natural Science, the Second Prize of National Science and Technology Progress, and the Ho Leung Ho Lee Science and Technology Progress Award.
