From October 20th to 22nd, the State Key Laboratory of Elemento-organic Chemistry held the 2017 Annual Symposium and the Fourth Session of the Seventh Academic Committee. Participants included the Director of the Academic Committee, Academician Cheng Jinpei, Deputy Director of the Academic Committee, Academician Zhou Qilin, Committee Members, Academician Tong Zhenhe, Academician Huang Naizheng, Academician Ma Shengming, Academician Tu Yongqiang, Professor Wang Meixiang, Prof. Xi Zhen, Prof. Zhu Xiaoqing, Prof. Cui Chunming, and Committee Consultants, Academician Zhang Lihe, Academician Li Zhengming. Approximately 330 researchers and graduates attended the Symposium.

    The opening ceremony was presided over by Prof. Liang Guangxin, Deputy Director of the State Key Laboratory. Prof. Li Jing, Vice President of Nankai University, delivered a speech on behalf of the university. Prof. Cui Chunming, the Director of Key Laboratory, reported the development and construction of the State Key Laboratory in the past year. The Symposium invited Prof. Frieder Jäkle, from Rutgers University, Prof. Kazushi Mashima, from Osaka University, Academician Wu Yundong, from Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School, and Academician Ma Shengming, from Fudan University to deliver plenary reports. Visiting professors of the Laboratory, Prof. *********jie, from Fudan University and Prof. Yang Guangfu from Central China Normal University, together with fixed researchers, Prof. He Liangnian and Prof. Zhou Chuanzheng gave reports on their innovative work.

    54 graduate students from the State Key Laboratory exhibited their posters on their research and 15 were selected as the outstanding poster. Academician Cheng Jinpei, Academician Tong Zhenhe, Academician Zhang Lihe, Academician Wu Yundong and Prof. Cui Chunming awarded certificates signed by Cheng. In addition to the certificates, each of them will receive a 1,000RMB bonus to commend their outstanding research and posters.

    On 22nd, Cheng Jinpei, Director of the Academic Committee, hosted the Fourth Session of the Seventh Academic Committee. Committee members, Academician Tong Zhenhe, Academician Huang Naizheng, Academician Ma Shengming, Professor Wang Meixiang, Prof. Xi Zhen, Prof. Zhu Xiaoqing, Prof. Cui Chunming, and Committee Consultants, Academician Zhang Li, Academician Li Zhengming attended the session. The session reviewed the application of the 2017 State Key Laboratory Open Fund and provided valuable comments and suggestions on the development and construction of the Laboratory. After the session, Vice President Bai Jingmei of Tianjin Association for Science and Technology and Minister Wang Wanying of the Work Department visited the attendees on behalf of Tianjin Association for Science and Technology, and thanked them for their strong support for the development and construction of Tianjin.
