Recently, Tianjin Education Commission published the result of the award of the Outstanding Teachers in Higher Education of Tianjin. Professor Ruan Wenjuan in the College of Chemistry received the award.
The award of the Outstanding Teachers in Higher Education is aimed at further reforming the undergraduate education, improving the quality of teaching and cultivating students. The award was set up for teachers who teach undergraduate courses for a long time and have made great contributions, especially for teachers who teach basic courses for freshmen or sophomores. It enhances the teachers' sense of responsibility; stimulates teachers to engage in teaching and mobilizes their enthusiasm and creativity. A total of 24 teachers in Tianjin won the award this year.
Professor Ruan Wenjuan teaches undergraduate’s compulsory courses Physical Chemistry for more than 20 years. Experts and students spoke highly of her classes. She won the “Charming Class” award and was chosen as the “Outstanding Teachers” in Nankai University in 2015. She not only teaches students, but also cultivates a group of young teachers to teach Physical Chemistry. Her Course of Physical Chemistry is the Excellent Course of Tianjin and her Teaching Team of Physical Chemistry was chosen as the Teaching Team of Tianjin in 2013. As a doctoral tutor, she trained more than 20 graduate students, several doctoral students. Committing to teaching over a long period of time, she engaged in coordination physical chemistry and completed a number of National and Tianjin Natural Science Fund projects. She has published 20 papers as the corresponding author in last five years and 120 papers since she taught in Nankai University. She also won the Third-Prize of Tianjin Natural Science Award in 2007.
