On April 29th, Professor Xueming Yang, the member of CAS, delivered his address in State Key Laboratory of Elemento-Organic Chemistry. The topic is “A way to excellence-- my experience in scientific research”.

    Professor Yang shared his experiences when he was young. He explained that he started his research in experimental science because he was fascinated by nature when he was young, but step by step he finally became one of the most important scholars in molecular reaction dynamics. He suggested that students should first discover their own interests. They also need to understand the principles of physical chemistry and learn to solve a problem individually. Besides, Yang introduced his representative work about bimolecular reactions dynamics and photocatalysis, showing that molecular reactions dynamics plays a very important role in mechanism research.

    At the end of the lecture, Yang answered students’ questions and communicate with them in different areas. Yang is very humors and made his speech full of laughter. Students gained a lot in the lecture.

Professor Yang‘s Resume:

    Professor Xueming Yang, the member of CAS, is the deputy director of DICP. He received Winner of National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars in 2005 and Cheung Kong Scholar Distinguished Professor in 2009. He is also the chief scientist of “973 Project” and the leader of VUV (synchrotron & laser based) program. His research interests are gas-phase reaction and surface molecular reaction dynamics. He is the editor-in-chief of Chinese Journal of Chemical Physics, senior editor of Journal of Physical Chemistry, associate editor-in-chief of Science Advances and members of the editorial boards of many magazines. He has published about 300 articles including 11 in Science and 1 in Nature.
