Prof. Chen Jun of Nankai University met with Prof. Irene Tracey, President of Oxford University

(by Zheng Dong, Trans. by Li Jing) On November 13, Prof. Chen Jun, an academician of the CAS Member,  Vice President of Nankai University, met with Irene Tracey, President of the University of Oxford in Shenzhen. During the meeting, both sides expressed their friendship and sought common development, reaching many consensuses in further promoting the high-quality development of the relationship between the two schools.


Zhang Wenzhong, lifetime board member of Nankai University, chairman of Nankai Alumni Entrepreneurs Association, founder of Wumart Group, and founder of Duodian DMALL, Wang Yushuo, chairman of the board of directors of New Olympic Group, Liesl Elder, director of development and alumni affairs at Oxford University, Jeremy Woodall, director of Asian development at Oxford University, Ngan Ying Mak, director of senior development at Oxford University, and the head of the International  Office of Nankai University attended the meeting.


Chen Jun pointed out that Nankai University has a deep connection and friendly relationship with the University of Oxford. The implementation of substantive high-level exchange and cooperation projects between the two universities has made significant contributions to deepening mutual learning and enhancing cultural exchanges between China and the UK. In particular, the implementation of the Nankai Oxford Scholarship Program has created a new model for talent attraction and education between the two universities, injecting new impetus into higher-level cooperation in the next stage.


Irene Tracey expressed her gratitude for the welcome from the Nankai representative and fully affirmed the achievements of the exchange and cooperation between the two schools. She further pointed out that in the next stage, Oxford will continue to support the Nankai Oxford Scholarship Program and also encourage the two universities to further develop more diverse scientific research cooperation based on their interdisciplinary advantages.
