Academician Chen Jun Attended the Closing Ceremony of the 39th Chinese National Chemistry Olympiad (Final) and Delivered a Speech

On October 29, 2025, the Closing Ceremony and Award Ceremony of the 39th Chinese National Chemistry Olympiad (Final) were grandly held at the High-Tech Campus of the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC). Academician Chen Jun, Vice President of the Chinese Chemical Society and Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, attended the ceremony and delivered an important speech.

Academician Chen Jun first congratulated the successful hosting of this competition and expressed his gratitude to the contestants, team leaders, observers, and representatives from across the country for their active participation. He pointed out that the Chinese National Chemistry Olympiad, as the most widely participated, highly prestigious, and influential youth science competition in the field of chemistry in China, not only provided a platform for young people to showcase their chemical talents but also unearthed and cultivated a large number of outstanding chemical talents for the country.

At the closing ceremony, Academician Chen Jun, together with Academician Yu Shuhong, Executive Council Member of the Chinese Chemical Society and President of the Anhui Provincial Chemical Society, presented the Best Female Contestant Award to Zhou Panpan from Hubei Province, in order to encourage more girls to participate in the Chemistry Olympiad activities.

Furthermore, Academician Chen Jun also presented a certificate of appreciation on behalf of the Chinese Chemical Society to the Anhui Provincial Chemical Society and the School of Chemistry and Materials Science at USTC, expressing his heartfelt gratitude for their hard work and outstanding contributions in organizing the event.

In his speech, Academician Chen Jun also revealed information about the next Chinese National Chemistry Olympiad (Final). He announced that the 40th Chinese National Chemistry Olympiad (Final) in 2026 would be held in Shanghai and co-hosted by the Shanghai Institute of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering and the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

The attendance and speech of Academician Chen Jun added a strong academic atmosphere to the closing ceremony and demonstrated the high importance that the Chinese Chemical Society places on youth chemistry education and talent cultivation.
